Westwood Elementary School
One of the best ways to spread the word about green schools is to get people to visit a working green school and see just how great they are. And if you can get someone famous to check out your school, even better! That's just what the students at Westwood Elementary School in Zimmerman, Minn., did when they invited noted green schools advocate, comedian and candidate for U.S. senator Al Franken for a tour. The kids had fun meeting Mr. Franken and teaching him about what makes Westwood, Minnesota's first LEED-certified school, truly green. They even came up with a list of the top 10 reasons to build a LEED school.
